Day 6: Finally In the Mission Mindset

This morning we woke up bright and early and drove to Stevenston again. The High Kirk hosted a prayer breakfast for us. Corinne, Trey, Emma, and I all had a chance to share about Jesus and why we came over to Scotland. After that we drove to Largs and had ice cream at Nardini’s with Paul and Pauline Tuthill. This was a great opportunity to talk with them and see a new part of Scotland. That night we went to Helen’s birthday party. All of us had a fantastic time hanging out and we danced for about four hours straight. We also sang A Red Red Rose by Robert Burns and gave Helen a dozen roses and hugs.-Josh

The prayer breakfast was wonderful, Josh, Mrs. Higdon, Me and then Trey spoke. Mum facilitated the discussion and added some things to it. Seeing the guys step up and deliver a powerful testimony was really encouraging and Mrs. Higdon’s testimony was very thought-provoking and challenging and Mum's wrap up was perfect. I gave my testimony the best I had ever given it before and it truly was from God. I even had my Mum crying :) Everyone was so focused and on point and truly reflected Jesus in their speech that it was wonderful and we pray also encouraging. It really put us as a team into the mission mindset for the next week where most of our mission would be. Helen’s birthday party later that night was one of my highlights from the trip. It was filled with dancing, fellowship and fun. We showed the Scotland boys that you don’t need alcohol to have an awesome time at a party and just danced all night long and made it a special night for her.-Emma

The prayer breakfast was just led by God in a profound way. We didn’t have as many people show up as we expected; a few members of the church as well as a few non-believers attended. As a result, we combined the ladies and gentlemen into a big circle in the church hall. Josh, Corinne, Emma, and I shared our testimonies. It was a sweet time, we were all so comfortable, and the Lord definitely directed our words. This was exactly the morning I had been waiting for. I really felt like I was doing mission-work. This is what I came to do. I finally got to share about the Lord, this really put me back into my comfort zone. Then at Helen’s party, we were able to have a great time singing and dancing with the Scotland Boys. It was great to be able to show the guys that you could have a blast at a party without drinking. That was one of our main goals for the trip: to show them Jesus by how we live. -Trey
